Ain‘t that cool ah? Few hours ago my mom called me and said that she had important thing to congratulate me for and I was ahh?? What? Heh.. I merely forgot what I did last spring and now they award me for that ? Cool.
Last spring I was doing my Senior Thesis at the AUBG and I was supposed to do something simple, but with my mania of playing around with Search Engines I decided to try to make my own search engine following some very well know criteria for judging quality content aka ranking...
So what did I make -- Webhound.us -- the search engine (which was never actually put into good use since it was more about learning how to do it not working with it.
The WebHound project is able to consume unlimited amount of websites (currently limited to the database server capabilities) and will rank the found content on the most popular search engine criteria - title, descr, h1, h2, p, and etc. It also punishes websites for using wrong keywords and etc, but overall it works quite nice. If I had the server capabilities I was going to dig deep and get the whole Internet and implement the PageRank stuff and etc, but thanks God I didn‘t go that far.
Anyway .. I just wanted to let you know about that .. not that its important .. who cares what I won :-)
