Hello All, I've just entered some new European SEO contest for ranking on top of Google for the keyword eurodipity . This is going to be really exciting because this is the first European tournament I've been competing in since last year's world seo championships.

Very soon I'll be able to give you some insides on what's going on with the competition but first I'll have to get my sites indexed and we'll see... read more..

SEO Experiment: Overcrowded Shared Hostings can affect your Search Engine Rankings badly!

date: 2008-06-14 10:18:17
by: Venetsian

During the last few months I've been noticing serious changes in search engine behaviors especially on my large websites having more than 100k pages. Some of them have been sitting on my HostGator account who's well know as being one of the largest shared hosting overseller offering unlimited domains hosting. When I moved those sites to new dedicated server that I've purchased for my own needs, I've noticed sudden surge of search engine bot activities. The site got crawled by tons of search engines and less than a week later there was more than 600k indexed pages in Google while previously there were around 40k to 60k pages.

My findings confirm that search engine crawlers count the number of domains per IP address and divide the approximate time spent on each one therefore if there are a lot of domains hosted on the same ip address your index time allocation is divided by the number of domains hosted. This immediately results in poor/slow indexing especially on large websites.

The best way to find how many other pages is to run a http://whois.domaintools.com/yourdomain.com and find out your particular name server domains usage. NOTE: This does not work for some hosting companies that use centralized DNS management. If you see more than 2k websites then most definitely that's not accurate and you must find some other way of detecting the domains usage on your shared server. This tool works fine when the name servers are independent for each hosting server. If you see that you account's name servers are something like ns1.hostserv3.com and ns2.hostserv3.com then its most definitely OK and the number should be accurate... read more..

Time for Website Updates

by: Venetsian

Well, its this time of the year when we have to update our websites and plug in some new stuff so you don‘t get bored from seing the same thing over and over.

Today I finally updated the Content Management System with the latest version of SEO Website CMS and this post is actually more like a test rathen than some meaningful post. If I‘m correct this should work properly, but if I did some typo in the code it would be quite messy.

Please report any problems (if you find) to my email vjakimov [at] gmail [dot] com Thanks... read more..

Problems with the Domain Aftermarket

date: 2007-12-15 10:18:10
by: Venetsian

As you may already know I‘m a big fan of the Domain Aftermarket and during the last few years I‘ve collected pretty good domain portfolio. Unfortunately not all domains are as good as they should be and this case is one of them.

Nearly six months ago I‘ve purchased the domain "usemortgages dot com" and I‘ve immediately developed DB Directory with some mortgage related stuff on it. A month later I‘ve noticed that all search engines are still trying to crawl non-existed/out-dated folders and they don‘t want to collect the new information. Google had very low crawling activity (within 1% of the total number content pages) and my site was not indexed on it (not showing any search results). I thought this was due to the large number of 404‘s (page not found) that was generated from the content switching, but this was not the case.

Eventually after more than 5 months of waiting I finally gave up and considered the domain as "blacklisted domain". This ment that I spent all that time for nothing.... read more..

GoDaddy Web Hosting causes WordPress search engine privacy issues

date: 2007-08-23 09:46:34
by: Venetsian

As you might know, I‘m currently developing my own Blog Network of MFA (dollar-a-day) websites. For my current run, I‘m filling up my web hosting space at GoDaddy with Directories and WordPress Blogs. Yes this time I‘m using WordPress because my SEO Website CMS somehow doesn‘t work with the Godaddy accounts since they have some special permissions on htaccess and its rewrite rules. I‘ll try to fix it but currently I don‘t have the time to bother with this and I‘m using WordPress instead.

What I didn‘t know when I used GoDaddy‘s default wordpress installer was that when it installs it it sets up by default \"Search Engine Privacy\" settings. Those settings forbid Search Engines to index your website and therefore no matter how much efforts you have it won‘t get you indexed. Actually if you knew about this option, its so easy to switch the button and actually disable it and enable search engines to visit your website and actually get indexed, but in most of the cases people don‘t know about it or others (like me for example) don‘t look for it since we all know that the default settings for search engine privacy is disabled on new wordpress installations. That‘s the reason I really got pissed off because GoDaddy decided to change those for you and if you were not careful and did not have the knowledge how to work with search engines you might wonder why your website never got in the Search Engines and you don‘t get any visitors to your new website.... read more..

The Directory Experiment Part 2

date: 2007-08-19 17:07:06
by: Venetsian

If you followed my experiments you can see that I did one Directory Experiment few months ago when I started developing my very own web directory network. Now thugs kinda changed and I can hit you up with some updates that kinda spoiled my day.

As you know I tested 1000 directory submissions on 3 websites to see what the approval rate is going to be and now i got the results. The unfortunate thing is that I got only 160 directory listings (I‘m not sure how many directories that is because one directory may have more than 1 listing showing up as backlink). This really spoiled my day since I paid around $60 for that and its really a big waist of time and money. Also I‘m kinda disappointed that most of my other websites got almost the same approval rate which is considered quite low. This makes me re-think my strategy and see what else we can do to get more backlinks to power the new directories... read more..

First website included in the DMOZ Project

My first website ever included in the DMOZ

I feel like the King of the Web! Today I found out that I got one of our company websites included in the DMOZ! That‘s a groundbreaking event that is really amazing both to me and my partners. The thing is that we were trying to get DMOZ listing for the last 6 years and after applying so many times we finally got one listing up.

I was about to say that the DMOZ is dead and now they proved me kidn‘a wrong. Its still breathing (from time to time) but its far from being really successful project. The fact that it took me 6 years to get one website up is really weird and I‘m not sure what this means. Now I know that most of my websites are not that high quality but still some of them are proven to be really good and deserve to be listed.... read more..

Dell gives Free Next Day Shipping if you complain

date: 2007-08-09 17:29:22
by: Venetsian
"Dell

By accident I just discovered that Dell gives free Next Day Shipping to anyone that complains about the change in shipping dates from the the purchase page to the real email shipping date that you receive after you pay for the new laptop/computer. In order to get the benefit you must call them and complain about it and then ask to cancel the order and on the cancellation department you must say that because of the date difference you won‘t need that laptop/computer since you need it for your vacation or birthday gift and you wish to cancel. You can say that if you have it earlier with a day or two you can keep the order. The sales rep will ask you if you wish to have free next day shipping upgrade and keep the order. Yep, that‘s what I did. I got the Free Next Day shipping from DELL.

Now let me explain the whole story and how I learned this.

Yesterday I was browsing the bensbargains.net looking for the next awesome tech deal and I stumbled across a great deal on 17" Dell Inspiron E1705 Core 2 Duo Notebook or $1373 - $624 off code WP5WG3JRQKRRC4 [Exp 8/15]. This laptop is merely the same with my Dell inspiron 9300 that I bought 3 years ago, and the idea of changing it made me really interested since I‘m afraid that due to my hardcore use my old laptop will fail soon.

I didn‘t think too much about it and ordered it online. The most important thing for me is that I needed that laptop urgently since I‘m going on vacation on August 30 and I need it to be delivered to my home/office before that date and if I get it later I wont need it. When I purchased the laptop from the dell homepage it said that the estimated shipping date is on August 23 and with 3-5 days standard shipping (free) was going to be ok. The problem arose when I received the Confirmation Email on which the date was changed to August 28 and the estimated arrival date to September 2-4 ? That really pissed me off since I‘m not going to be able to get it on time and I had to call DELL and figure a way out of this situation.... read more..

Die Hard 4 - the Real Version!

date: 2007-07-30 23:29:47
by: venetsian

Yep, today we did a major security upgrade on one of our servers due to one serious CMS security fault which allowed "unauthorized person" to write on other user‘s accounts and add stuff. This so called hacker was actually a worm virus that was spreading thru Linux Server networks and eventually came to us.

Hopefully we found it quite quickly (10 minutes after first contact) and disinfected the system, but that didn‘t fix the whole issue because the security exploit allowed it to infect it again 5 minutes later. That made us push this major update and isolate each account so that this problem would be fixed, but actually fixing one thing made tons of other issues.

Now the sad thing about my work is that when you fix one thing, you have to break something else and this simply sux. In this case most CMS systems require PHP global variables to be OFF, but some require them to be ON. The thing that made my day like a living hell is that 50% of our clients use global registers on the CMS systems and the other 50% can‘t run their CMS‘es due to this register .... read more..

The importance of File Server Mirror RAID hard drives

date: 2007-07-18 15:18:58
by: venetsian

I just posted below that I‘m so stuck with work, and guess what happened on top of everything? Our DELL PowerEdge Server almost blew out and one of the hard drives with our most important information failed. Thanks GOD we had Mirror RAID on it and we didn‘t lose any information. Actually that MIRROR saved my ass and it showed how important and life saving this small investment can me in times of trouble.

Now I normally won‘t go with Mirror RAID since it requires two hard drives to operate as one - in our case we have 2 x 120GB that work with 120GB, but in this case one is the mirror of the other and when one fails the other one continues to work without even notifying you that a problem occurred. Actually yes in my case our Windows Server 2003 is so out of date that it didn‘t even notified me that one of the hard drives failed and this kind‘a sucked, but I know its my fault since I didn‘t monitor it recently.... read more..

"Im

The last few weeks I‘ve been working like crazy from 8 AM to 12 PM every day (including the weekends). Actually during the weekend I work only from 12-12 so it not that bad, but still this constant problems are really making my hair go gray.

I recently got few big contracts and this kind‘a added up to the growing numer of current hosting clients that we have. That immediately resulted in constant headaches and extreme anger towards everything.

As you may know our company is growing quite well, but having more clients leads to quite more work and currently we barely handle the situation and very soon we‘ll start employing new people because we can‘t handle that thing any more if it continues to grow like that. My partner is even thinking of selling one of our divisions since we get too much headaches and is not really profitable (actually it is profitable but currently we feel that for the effort that we do its not that good and if we employ other people to do the support it will be quite interesting deal and quite profitable).

Now I also run few design jobs and one very large advertising campaign. This total mess made me so crazy that I‘m barely finding time to post few blogs here and there and that‘s immediately resulting in the decreased website visits since its not a secret that Google is monitoring all website activities including with the G toolbar (otherwise how they‘ll know about it?)..... read more..

Venetsian is turning into Bookworm!

"Venetsian

Wow, I never actually knew that one day I will turn into bookworm especially when I hate so much reading books. Actually this is not really true, and I love reading “useful books” like technical and marketing textbooks. The thing I hate to read and I do acknowledge that I will never (maybe not ever) read is literature books and poetry. Yes poetry is good, helps you become a better person, but the fact is that reading literature won’t make your rich or at least wealthy enough and thus spending time on reading useful stuff is quite better at the end.

It is a fact and all people that know me are aware of it. In my entire life I didn’t read more than 10-15 literature books, but on the other hand I read at least one, two technical books weekly.

Last week I took a new step in my carrier and officially got involved with serious internet marketing issues. Until now I used to be passive marketer – build it and seo it, but now I’m going a bit more offensive and I’m getting involved with PPC (Pay-Per-Click) and other marketing that I previously kind’a stayed away from. The thing is that now I don’t have other options and I have to because my work requires it and in order to be proven useful I have to show the best of me and that’s why I’m reading all those marketing books lately..... read more..

Internet War or Duplicate Content Experiment?

date: 2007-07-06 12:52:34
by: Venetsian
"Internet

One of my colleagues just noticed that a new MFA website popped out in one of my high CPC niches and this news really got me upset. I don‘t really care that I have to share profit with someone else, but rather the fact that low quality MFA websites decrease the overall CPC values for the whole niche and some advertisers even run away from content network advertising. Therefore I‘m going to declare war to this site and in the same time I‘ll do some fairly interesting SEO experiments on SEO assault techniques like duplicate content punishment.

I‘m going to get one of my unused aged domain and make almost exact copy of that website. I‘ll target the same keywords as they did and therefore bu all duplicate content rules one of the websites will be punished and trashed into the supplemental results index. The experiment part will show if aged, high pr domains have better priority over duplicate content over relatively new websites with limited number of links and pr. If my experiment show to be a success then my website will rank on top of the other website and therefore prevent the small website from getting good amount of hits.... read more..

Classic Lines Fitness has new website!

"Classic

A week or so ago, my buddy buddy Alex finally managed to finish and publish the new Classic Lines Fitness website, but now he is experiencing some weird problems with the search engines and that‘s why I‘ve decided to give him a helping hand in exchange for some pimping services to hook me up with some of the amazing looking girls over there. I guess we made a deal with him and I‘m really happy for that.

So what about the fitness. The Classic Lines fitness is as the name says some really cool looking classic lines on those (man I can‘t even find the appropriate word for that) amazing looking chicks. I‘ll just say that one thing is for sure, if they start accepting guys as members I‘ll most definitely join, but unfortunately classic lines fitness in va is only for girls aka ladies and actually that might cause a problem. I might try to pretend I‘m instructor there and enjoy the view (which most probably means that I‘ll have to give him a bigger favour in order to hook me up with such position) but the rewards are something I do want to get my hands on...... read more..

My Noisy fan got me crazy and I almost threw the computer off the window

About four years ago I bought my personal office computer. I didn‘t want to buy any brand assembled computer so I‘ve decided to assemble it myself from the best parts I could find on the market. I guess for a geek like me that‘s must-do thing and I got the biggest/phattest case I could find with the best CPU, Memory and etc. and this computer works so well that I still believe that was my best investment ever! Until now. Actually the computer is still working quite well, no problems except one very noisy fan that I driving me insane!

Yesterday I finally got pissed off so much that I opened the case to see what is making so much noises. I was really amazed to see that the CPU fan was not the problem, but the motherboard north bridge chipset fan was going berserk. That the problem was not replacing it but finding a replacement fan. As I already had the case open, I‘ve decided that its not bad idea to visit the local computer store and get myself new one and change it but that didn‘t happen exactly like that.... read more..

Online Money Making Machine Experiment

date: 2007-06-19 20:19:51
by: Venetsian
"Online

I‘ve just started working on one quite large and very interesting article labeled "The Online Money Making Machine Guide". As the title describes, I‘m trying to put down one quite comprehensive article or maybe a bit more like a guide on how to build money making machines a sort of MFA but a bit more user and search engine friendlier that regular MFAs

I‘ve been working on this type of websites for quite a while and I‘ve finally managed to make a good scheme to make few bucks on the site by building website blogs with AdSense in mind. This type of websites do not make a lot of money - few dollars a day, but they don‘t really require any time or work, because the setup and initial articles can be done in less than 4 hours and after that you just watch you AdSense drinking your beer.

For this article I wanted to use some actual data as reference points and I‘ve decided to build a brand new website (blog actually) and describe in details how I did it and what happened in each point in time until I start earning money and later on. I guess that‘s going to take few weeks and even maybe a month until I get the whole thing earning money but I‘m not in a hurry and this data is going to help quite a lot as evidence not like other similar articles where the data is totally artificial..... read more..

Wrestling Monopoly - version 1.0

Some of you had already seen my websites collection - on My Websites page. Yes I own a huge amount (about 30) high quality wrestling related domain names. I‘m going to tell you one little secret.

In the beginning of 2003 I became the webmaster for one fairly large non-profit wrestling association. Actually that was my first large website support job and I got really passionate about it. When I took their website it was made of few JPEG images and looked like shit. Funny or not, this organization was the host for the 2003 World Championships in Freestyle wrestling which was the biggest wrestling event in the world (each year) and they didn‘t even have a single page saying that thing on their website. The Website Directory Experiment

date: 2007-06-15 12:46:05
by: Venetsian
"Website

First I‘d like to say that this has nothing to do with the Sub-Directory Experiment that I‘m currently running, because this is only for directory type of websites. I‘ve noticed that nowadays only directory-directory websites are dying and the chances to get some actual visitors are quite low (we don‘t count the huge number of submitters who don‘t do anything else than submitting more and more listings) we are talking about actual people that visit those directories and use them. Isn‘t that the basic idea behind directories to be used as guides for Internet visitors?

Basically my SEO Experiment on Website Directories is made of two parts. The first part is to check how much PageRank will one directory get if I submit it in 1000 directories. I suppose that if I‘m lucky enough I‘ll get around 40%-50% acceptance rates and with about 400-500 backlinks I should be able to get pr 4 on that particular directory.

On the second directory I will do only blog posts, somewhere around 100-200, and I should get some good backlinks. I‘m assuming that those blog posts will be enough to boost me up to pr 4 and maybe even more (I‘m not sure about that but that‘s why it‘s experiment).... read more..

What am I going to do with those High Website Bounce Rates?

date: 2007-06-13 10:38:14
by: Venetsian
"I‘m

On top of all the problems that I had recently I’ve just learned that Google is taking serious considerations on websites with high bounce rates and this got me really worried because most of my websites are made in first-page-all content structure and most people don’t bother to click-thru the website as its not mandatory. This website structure generates massive amount of bounce-rates because by definition page bounce rate is the number of people that land on one page and exit from the same. This issue is very bad for my websites because when one person lands on the main/home page about 70% don’t go any further and that generates 70% bounce rate which is quite high.

The other issue that I’ve been observing for quite a while now is that some of my websites rank quite well for irrelevant keywords to my topic/theme and this also generates a lot of bounces since people leave the website quite quickly since they don’t find the content that they were looking for. That issue got really serious in our SEO News Blog where we started the weekly top paying AdSense keywords and due to the high quality of that website we ranked quite high for those keywords and immediately started receiving traffic for them which is 100% irrelevant to our targeted niche. Based on the Google Analytics issue we should lose our ranking for those keywords pretty quickly and more useful website will take our place, but what I’m most afraid is not to get the overall ranking for the relevant/targeted keywords punished because of this issue. I hope the Google engineers are smart enough to figure this out and protect webmasters like me.... read more..

Funny thing happened today, I‘ve almost lost few of my best domain names due to negligence. I guess I totally forgot about them, and when I changed my email accounts from Yahoo to Gmail, I didn‘t update my account information with my old Domain Name Registrar, so I didn‘t received (yes I did, but I don‘t check that email account anymore) for the "your domains area about to expire" notification. For which Search Engine I should optimize now? Google, MSN or Yahoo?

date: 2007-06-10 14:14:16
by: Venetsian

I‘m currently at that point in my SEO career that I‘m really wondering where I‘m heading. Until now I’ve been so obsessed with Google and Google Search Ranking that I merely forgot about the other search engines and I have absolutely no idea where I’m ranking on Yahoo and MSN.

Yesterday I got really curious on the recent tendencies on where search engine traffic comes from and which search engine is the most popular one. The formula is very simple. Popular Search Engine = tons of traffic which on the other hand requires a lot of SEO Optimization in order to rank well and actually get your fair share of this traffic for your targeted keywords. The thing that really amazed me was my finding from Alexa – the website statistics company – showed up on the search engine reach on both Google, Yahoo and MSN/LIVE which totally made me fall of my chair.

"Search

As you can clearly see on the graphic above plotting the search reach tendancies for Google, Yahoo and MSN/LIVE for the last five years we can clearly note that there are some serious, somehow weird, changes that I wasn’t aware of. For example we all know that Google was becoming more and more popular from 2001 to 2006, but nobody knew that from the beginning of this year its loosing grounds to Microsoft Search. The thing is that Microsoft search is both MSN and Live as they are virtually the same search engine but with different names and we can clearly see that if we combine the daily reach of both MSN and LIVE it combines to 1.5 times the reach of Google and that’s really amazing amount of traffic.... read more..

I was victim of AdSense ClickBombing - learn how to protect yourself from getting banned!

by: venetsian
"AdSense

I mentioned in the previous post that I made a really critical review on one webmaster and unfortunately for me he "asked" his friends to try to get me banned from AdSense by Click bombing my AdSense websites. This is totally wrong behaviour and almost got me banned and now I‘m going to explain you how to defend yourself again such threats as I was able to survive it and not get my AdSense Account Banned.

First, What is AdSense click-bombing. Click-Bombing is when a malicious user enters your website with the intent to massively click AdSense ads with the sole purpose of getting the owner of the web site‘s AdSense account banned. In such events, the AdSense CTR goes sky-high as the bomber clicks hundreds of time on the ads displayed and therefore rises flag for AdSense SPAM. AdSense Spam comes in two natures. If you click your own ads or get someone to click your ads. Both cases are strongly forbidden in the AdSense Terms of Use and therefore you can get your AdSense account banned and loose all the available funds...... read more..

To the people that don’t really understand what predicted pagerank is, it means that my website was nominated for receiving pagerank 5. I guess this is the closest I can translate it to non-webmasters.

It is even better because not only venetsian.com was predicted pr5 but also a number of other websites that I own and this will boost up with good pr the whole network which is so good.

So let’s share the secret how we did it.

"We

Actually its not a secret because everyone knows that links are the most important ranking factor in all search engines and the more you got the better. Recently I started some serious blogging and directory submissions and this really proved to be powerful ranking booster. Keeping your websites up to date with fresh content in combination with good number of incoming links is the ultimate formula for online success. I’m posting almost every day and I paid for 1000 directory submissions. I guess from 1000 dir sub package I will get around 400-500 backlinks which is pretty much enough to boost my website from pr2 to pr5..... read more..

I‘m going for serious Change in Internet Money Making Strategy

by: venetsian

Most of the people around me know that I have the mania of buying new domains and planning to make websites and building my own Internet empire, but in reality I‘m kinda stuck with those projects and that‘s mainly due to the fact that I took too many challenges at the same time. In 2003 I‘ve decided to build my own Wrestling Empire and I started gathering very nice domain names for both wrestling news and wrestling merchandise stores. After almost four years of paying the domain names and hosting I didn‘t do merely anything except one good web-store that isn‘t really finished and that‘s so sad. My mother always tolled me that I‘m over-passionate and when I get hooked up one something I‘m like addict, but the moment I find something else I totally leave everything. I‘m very sad to say that she is quite right and that‘s so true.

Currently I own some very very nice domains on wrestling products and also some brands-stores that are quite marketable if not for products then for advertising and its so dumb of me not to do anything with them.

Recently I realized that one of the market niches for a client that screwed me up not paying his bill is really nice and brings a lot of money from highly paid advertising and that was also one of my dumb situations because I owned those domains for so long and didn‘t do anything with them and they were just sitting in cyberspace. In reality I was paying the bills and loosing money instead of making money and that is so silly...... read more..

SEO Experiments: Can Sub-Directory Boost Your Primary Domain‘s PageRank?

date: 2007-05-28 22:20:03
by: venetsian

If you check out my previous post on Praying to Google for Higher Pagerank, you can note that I’m trying to figure out a nice cost-effective scheme to boost website pagerank. I’ve been thinking all day long on how much money it will cost me to open 23 web directories and make full scale web promotion with directory submissions and paid blogging in order to make them reach PR4. The basic idea was that when they reach pr4 I’m going to offer paid directory submissions to all the directories until I return my investment and then sell them to cover the expenses for their development, but now I turned my head to one other possibility which seems more flexible and could earn quite more money than by selling directories.

My primary calculations for the promotion costs on each directory in order to reach pr4 was around $90 to $120 UDS, but in reality when I sell them I won’t get better price than $200 for each and that’s not very nice return of investment. Therefore I’m going to make one interesting experiment to see if this will bring more pr and help me earn double, and maybe even triple.

Instead of opening 23 directories, I will open 23 blogs. Those blogs will cost me around $90-$120 (same as directory) to promote to PR4, but a blog can have also a directory as Sub-Domain, and therefore I will spend another $90-$120 in promotion of the Sub-Directory. This will total in around $180-$240 per blog... read more..

Praying to Google for Rankings and PageRank

"Praying

A friend of mine commented the fact that most of us (seo‘s) got stuck our heads in Google‘s Ass and we forgot the most important rule in SEO. We almost turned Google into God and worship him for better rankings and higher page rank. The thing is that content is king and without content even the best SEO can‘t do anything.

It‘s true. In our search of Google ranking algorithms, criticizing and analyzing we forgot that without strong content we cant do anything! Now I‘m turning back myself into my primary mission continue building high quality content rich websites.

My newest project is to build 20 website directories each with custom design and promote them until they get PR4. Then I will start offering Link Building Services and fill up at least partially those directories with high-quality paid links. After some descent period I will sell those directories at even more reasonable price...... read more..

As I‘ve predicted earlier Google its on its way to close deal with FeedBurner

"Google

Earlier this year when Google purchased the SEO Company Performics it was evident that Google is aiming total Internet search monopoly. When I read that news, I predicted (as a joke actually) that the next company that they will try to acquire will be FeedBurner as FB is the biggest online RSS Feeds distributor and that will complete the picture. In my oppinion Google is trying to get as much as possible information related to Internet website quality and consumption.

FeedBurner is the largest RSS feeds distributor network and has more than 500,000 publishers and accordingly millions of daily readers. Having such data in hand, Google will be able to determine which websites/blogs have a lot of readers and which don‘t and therefore adjust accordingly their rankings in the search results. Currently there was no way for Google to monitor the readership of Internet blogs and the blog ranking was more like blind game. Now I‘m predicting that Google will take all that data and trow out in the garbage the numerous fake/made-up blogs that are out there only for posting website reviews and link farming. This is a great addition after we all know what Google did with Link Buying and that‘s one step higher to achieving its ultimate going in cleansing its index from MFA and Spam websites!.... read more..

Did your website ended up in the supplemental results ?

"Did

Nowadays all Search Engines are getting smarter and smarter and their capabilities to collect/crawl billions of websites and store/cache most of the content is bringing up serious issues for webmasters. As you may know Search Engines are not able to store the all the content and therefore they store vector snapshots of non-common/non-repetitive words that have some meaning in order to decrease the storage space and make it easy for analysis and ranking. If you noticed that when you search in Google (for example) and you type in the wild roses are red the search engine marks up only wild roses and red and had neglected "the" and "and".

When you remove the most-common and junk-words then there are only quite a few words left, and the chances that those word-combinations are not already used by one or few of the billion pages online is quite low and this causes numerous unique content websites to get listed in the supplemental results....... read more..

Google bans MFA websites with AdSense Arbitrage

date: 2007-05-20 12:27:45
by: venetsian
"Google

Yes, Its true that many webmasters that used some not really ethical money-making-techniques did get the warning "your AdSense account will be closed" email. That is simply one of the many efforts for increasing the web quality by Google.

The main reason for banning so many people is the sole reason that MFA Websites with Google AdSense Arbitrage are driving mass amounts of traffic and the low quality MFA websites are generating very high CTR (Clickthru Rate) and this is causing very low ROI (Return of Investment) for the AdWords Advertisers. The sole action of closing such sites is one of the biggest efforts from Google to increase the quality of their AdWords advertising program and lower the advertising costs for many advertising clients and therefore try to attract many new advertisers for their network.

Now the question is should I be afraid of this? Yes I do run some MFA websites but I don‘t do any AdSense Arbitrage and all my traffic comes from organic listings or banner ads which is totally natural and the people that come to my websites are not forced in any way to click on the ads (yes the low amount of content is a reason for high CTR but my statistics show that I don‘t have higher CTR than 40% and average of $30% which is pretty much flag for MFA)..... read more..

Alternative forms of link advertising

Google VS Paid Links

In the webmasters business links are gold. Having more links means that the website will be receive a lot of traffic and most probably will high rank on the search engines. Yes, that's what I thought also when I started a experiment campaign with WordPress Theme Sponsorships. I purchased/sponsored 3-4 theme designers to make some very nice themes and distribute them to the wordpress theme download sites. This cost me about $500 and it was supposed to bring so much link-juice that I can finally push my blog to PR5.

But what happened in reality? Yeah, as always, reality is quite different. Search Engine Spam Algorithms are detecting such mass linking campaigns and marking them as Search Engine Spam - they decrease their value to a very small value or nearly zero and basically they become nearly worthless. You can check out this thread in DP discussing Matt Cutts and the Paid Links..... read more..

Venetsian joins the Greenpeace Standing for the Earth 2007 Program

Most of you know that I'm not really passionate environmentalist but I do support the idea for Environmental Protection of the species. Earlier this year as I was participating in the Global Warming Awareness 2007 SEO contest I found out that we can definitely get our voice heard and the Internet is the best medium to do so.

In my search of possible ways to contribute and in the same time earn some money (don't think I'll be contributing without any visible profit our of it) I began the development of one website dedicated to Environmentally Clean Renewable Energy - the use of Solar Panels. This website will broadcast news and other information on how people convert their power sources to renewable energy by implementing Solar Panel arrays and what are the benefits of going solar.. read more..

Increase your Website Quality and you will be astonished from the result!

Many website owners, webmasters and developers donât really invest the proper time and resources to increase their website quality and most of them are asking SEM people like me to help them find a reasonable solution.

Today (actually yesterday) Iâve made my mind to invest a little effort and make a website dedicated to webmasters with the high hopes that they will actually read it and improve the quality of your website. After so many years of website development experience I had learned that some simple strategies and optimization tips are proven to be extremely useful and bring very nice outcome if followed... read more..

Google files new patent application and we uncover what the new ranking algorithm really does

Google files new patent application for its new ranking algorithm

Today I found a thread on DB that somebody while digging up the web and looking for new posts by Matt Cutts (the chief engineer of Search Quality at Google) accidentally stumbled at something quite interesting. He found a new patent application filed by Matt Cutts for the new Google raking algorithms that are surprisingly the secret weapon if fighting spam and paid links. That topic is really hot in my point of view and I couldnât wait to digg into that.

After few hours of reading and analysing what the patent text was really about I was able to compose a short (2 page) compilation with my own comments on the Google ranking algorithm and what it really means. That article was posted on my newly acquired website SEONewsBlog.com. To read the article please click The new Google Patent and the new quality guidelines . This article should help webmasters understand the new trends that Google is heading. Most of this things I had predicted long time ago by simply investigating the Google search interface, but at that point nobody really listened to me ... read more..

Search Engine Optimized Text

Yesterday a university friend of mine asked me to help her do some SEO for her Bulgarian attorney at law because he had brand new website and he had some issues getting indexed with Google. She said that his primary problem was that when he Googles Gugushev he finds the website of his previous employer and his own website is missing from the top results. Thatâs quite typical for brand new website, especially when nobody knows about is and there are not backlinks pointing to is and therefore the Search Engines donât index the content simply because they donât know of its existence. ... read more..

My Website Directory is Finally Working!

by: Venetsian

Two days ago I was finally able to get my Website Directory to work. This is great achievement because its a wild combination of SEO features that I didnât have too much experience with and Iâm glad to get my hand on. The Website directory is powered by SEO Website CMS Web Directory Module and works quite well.

As you know Iâm the team leader for the SEO Website CMS development and my website is mostly used as test drive area for the new features. The SEO Directory is really nice and with a lot of functions like deep reciprocal link verification and link condom protection detection which will be able to help webmasters quickly discover link exchange cheaters.

Also yesterday we started the work on the Directory Friendship Network which will automatically distribute website listings to each directory participating. This will be primarily used as a quick promotion tool for newly developed websites. This feature is only available thru the SEO Website Directory Module and if you donât have it installed you wonât be allowed to participate in the network.... read more..

Dell Inspiron 9300 17 Widescreen 2.3GHz Centrino

First note that this article/blog is not intended to advertise nor DELL nor Microsoft! Iâm just sharing some experiences that I had with my dell 9300 laptop and its OS - MS Windows XP Professional.

The story is the following: In August 2005 I bought my second dell laptop after the first one got stolen from my dormitory room in my university (for which Iâm still pissed). For the short period that I owned it (about 8 months) I nearly felt in love with the hardware stability of dell laptops since I used a lot of PCs and they almost all the time had some "hardware issues". Even thou the Dell Inspiron 1200 with 4.3GHz, 512MB ram and 128mb "shared" video card was not exactly what I was "hoping" to get but for the small price of $1,300 USD that was the only thing I could afford at this time... read more..

Wake Up Your Website

The last few weeks I was very busy doing some SEO/SEM for a client and I really got on the topic. It is very funny that so many people contact my company asking us to develop websites for their companies or whatever, but their knowledge is limited to using them only as Business Cards.

Websites are much more powerful marketing tool but there are not too many people out there that know how to take the full advantages of the Internet. As you know the Internet is the biggest media out there and having a website increases your businessâs visibility drastically. The problem is that most of the people I meet think that by owning a website they will get all that benefits without any effort, but thatâs totally wrong!.... read more..

It didnât take me long to put it in my shopping cart and have it in about a week at my office. That book was very well organized and easy to read (especially if you already have some web design knowledge) and it took be about seven hours to read the whole 250 pages. Sweet!... read more..

content is king

Finally we were able to make a good stable version of the SEO website cms that works well and satisfies most of our website needs. Now we can finally pour in all content and make our website really popular.

I know Iâve been promising to update the website more often but never had the chance to actually do it, but now Iâm really serious in getting the whole thing done. I guess Iâm working too hard and there is not so much time left to write anything about myself but Iâm really hoping that Iâll be able to keep it up to day from now on, especially after the fact that now my website is so easy to manage and add more content.

The only thing I have to figure out is how to put my photo gallery online again because I really hate the old way of putting each picture one by one. That will be something on my to-do list.... read more..
